Have been living here since long
Circling around a bamboo stalk
Am aware of the beautiful, limitless world outside
My fins tied - by this fragile glass
Look at the potential I have
My lovely golden scales, the red tint allures every eye
I radiate life – the light that falls on me
People admire - My potential limited; however by this fragile glass
A neighbor lives here with me
Circles life's chore daily
We don't talk about ambition and anguish
As we Live - in agreed Harmony
People sit in front of me whole day
Pleaasee just don't catch a glimpse of me today!
Your attention caught - by the sleek LED box
All these shows - sports, cuisines, ideologies, technologies - changing, redefined
A year old baby visited one day
Was surprised myself - someone more blissful than me
Her innocence left me spell bound
She played with me – but reality is – I played with her – overjoyed; circled around in the same glass bowl
Really wish I could grow out one day
Walk on my own feet someday
Take my stride and build my space
My dignity and self respect restored – and not just feel like an object stored
Once I even tried;
The water was fuller than normally is
I took this huge leap and jumped beyond the walls
Fell on the ground – and it took its toll
Gasped out of breath - I felt like I was dead
In the treacherous world outside
No sympathy and no feelings - Evil impersonated
Just showing me back – my ‘Place’
My father once told
Child – go out and fight
Never give up – rise every time and fight
One day will come – the world will see – your dues at your feet
So I am determined
To live by it
Whatever it takes
And so shall be – just a Common Man...
